RFID based Time Attendance
RFID based Time Attendance System is implemented in our library for accurate log of library visitors timings. Staffs and students are provided with RFID enabled ID cards. RFID TA System is placed at the entrance of the library. Where the visitors show their RFID enabled ID cards while entering and leaving the library and hence their time is logged by the system. Traditional way of logging the visitors by signing the register and scanning the barcode to register their IN/OUT time is automated with RFID based system. Reports based on daily, weekly, monthly, yearly visitor timings can be generated accurately with ease. Factors like manpower, errors and time are saved a lot with the help of this system.
RFID Based Circulation
RFID based automation has been implemented in our library since 2016. RFID tags are pasted on all books available in our library. Students and staffs are issued ID cards with RFID tags. KIOSK with RFID reader is placed in our library for automated circulation system. Students and Staffs use this KIOSK for borrowing and returning the books without librarian’s intervention. Fine is calculated and displayed automatically while the books are returned late from the due date. Manual errors are avoided and time is saved a lot while using this KIOSK in its issuance and returning of books. Since the data is stored digitally, the process of maintaining manual registers and the usage of manpower is saved. Several Reports like Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly Issuance/Returns of books, Book List, Staff/Student List, Overdue Books List, Student/Staff based Issue/Return, Book based circulation details can be easily taken from this system.
RFID based Books Inventory
Taking Library Books Inventory is a nightmare for librarians using the traditional manual method of noting down the access numbers of books available in the library one by one and comparing with the register. We have simplified this method by implementing RFID based Inventory System in our library which enables us to take the inventory with ease. All books available in the library are pasted with RFID Tags, mapped to its accession number, rack number and shelf number. We use a hand held RFID reader for taking books inventory.
Our staff moves around the book racks with our hand held device scanning the tags pasted on the books. The scanned data is stored in the reader. An application is developed in house to download this data from the reader and generate reports. The best advantage of this system is that the misplaced books can be found easily. The accession number of the misplaced book is loaded into the RFID reader. Library Staff moves around the book rack scanning the RFID tags. When the misplaced book is detected by the reader, it alerts the user by producing beep sound so that the book can be retrieved and placed on its original location.
OPAC – Kiosk and Web based
We have placed an OPAC KIOSK in our library for visitors to check the resources available in our library. Books available with status (Available / Issued) and the next available date can be searched on the KIOSK. New Arrivals, Books, Journals, Projects and Book Bank can also be searched. A web based OPAC system is implemented in our library. Users can search the availability of books using any web browser within our Institution without physically visiting the library. In-house developed web application is hosted in our library server for this purpose. Suggestions given by users for enhancements of the system are done a sap since the web application is developed in house.
Library Resources

Apart from this, the library has got a collection of dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, project books on general knowledge, current affairs, and books on English grammar, humanities, and location awareness. In accumulation, books for competitive exams like GATE IIT-JEE, CAT, JTO-TELECOM, GMAT, UPSC, and TNPSC are accessible in the library for reference. Internet facility is available in the library. There are no specified hours for internet usage in the library. The printer and photocopying machine are available in the library. For issuing books, the Radio Frequency Identification System (RFID) is surveyed. There is also an OPAC system in the library through which various library resources can easily be studied. Our College Library has a reading room with the capacity of a chair of 150 and Resource Center.
Regular library hours, book bank systems, question banks, and regular assignment arrangements ensure the maximum utilization of the library resources in full. Thus the library is well equipped and the library resources are used to the maximum.
Access to Library Resources
All documents are classified according to Dewy Decimal Classification Scheme. Open Access System is adopted in the library. OPAC (On-Line Public Access Catalogue) has been created. Multi-searches via author, title, and subject and class number are possible. Special reference collections of books are placed in separate section.
